The USA Wholesale & Retail Director is responsible for overseeing and driving the growth of Skin Design London's wholesale and retail operations across the United States. This role will focus on strategic planning, partnerships, and building strong relationships with key retail partners, including department stores, luxury beauty retailers, and e-commerce platforms. The director will be responsible for ensuring the brand's presence is expanded and strengthened in both brick-and-mortar stores and wholesale channels to meet revenue targets and support the company’s long-term growth strategy in the U.S. market.

Key Responsibilities:

Wholesale Strategy & Execution:

  • Develop and implement wholesale strategies to expand the brand’s presence in key luxury department stores (e.g., Nordstrom , Saks Fifth Avenue , Bergdorf Goodman) and other premium beauty retailers.
  • Identify new wholesale opportunities and negotiate contracts with retail partners in the luxury skincare market.
  • Manage and grow relationships with key accounts , ensuring that all wholesale partners are meeting sales targets, maintaining high levels of brand standards, and effectively communicating the brand's positioning to consumers.
  • Optimize product distribution and inventory management in wholesale channels to ensure products are available in the right locations at the right time.
  • Monitor performance and KPIs for wholesale accounts, providing regular reports to senior leadership on sales performance, profitability, and areas for improvement.

Retail Strategy & Expansion:

  • Lead the expansion of the brand’s retail presence across the U.S., focusing on opening new counters, boutiques, and pop-up locations in high-profile luxury department stores and retail environments.
  • Drive the growth of existing retail partnerships , including enhancing in-store experiences, improving product placement, and working with retail partners to implement successful promotions and events.
  • Develop retail-specific campaigns in collaboration with the marketing and visual merchandising teams to increase foot traffic , brand awareness , and sales at each retail location.
  • Ensure consistency in brand standards across all retail locations, including staff training, store aesthetics, and product presentation to maintain the brand's luxury image.

Budgeting & Sales Target Management:

  • Set and manage sales targets for both wholesale and retail operations, ensuring the achievement of overall revenue goals for the U.S. market.
  • Work closely with the finance team to establish budgets for retail activities, promotions, events, and partnerships, and ensure the efficient allocation of resources.
  • Forecast sales for key wholesale accounts and retail channels, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet or exceed expectations.

Team Leadership & Cross-Department Collaboration:

  • Lead and mentor a team of wholesale account managers , retail managers , and other key staff members to ensure smooth operations and effective execution of strategies.
  • Collaborate with other departments , including marketing, product development, and customer service, to ensure alignment on U.S. market goals and to enhance the customer experience at all touchpoints.
  • Manage relationships with other internal teams (such as product development and logistics) to ensure the timely delivery of products and the execution of promotions across wholesale and retail accounts.

Reporting & Market Insights:

  • Analyze retail and wholesale performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and potential challenges in the U.S. market.
  • Provide actionable insights to the senior management team on customer preferences, sales performance, and competitive activity in the market.
  • Stay informed on market trends , competitor strategies, and consumer behaviors in the luxury skincare and beauty industry to inform future strategies.
  • Marketing & Promotional Support:
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop tailored campaigns for U.S. wholesale and retail partners, including product launches , seasonal promotions , and exclusive offers to drive traffic and sales.
  • Support regional product training , ensuring that retail partners and sales associates are well-informed and enthusiastic about the brand and its benefits.

Key Skills and Experience:

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in wholesale and retail management , preferably in the luxury beauty, fashion , or skincare industries .
  • Proven experience in managing high-profile retail accounts , particularly in the luxury department store sector.
  • A strong track record of growing sales , developing strategic partnerships, and achieving revenue goals in both wholesale and retail environments .

Strong Leadership & Team Management:

  • Proven ability to lead and inspire teams to achieve business objectives, with a focus on motivating staff and building a high-performing culture .
  • Strong people management skills , with experience in mentoring and developing talent at all levels of the business.

  • Ability to think strategically and work across departments to ensure alignment with broader business goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to navigate challenges in both wholesale and retail channels.

Sales & Negotiation Expertise:

  • Expertise in sales forecasting , budgeting , and negotiating contracts with retail partners.
  • Strong ability to negotiate terms with luxury retail accounts, ensuring mutually beneficial partnerships that drive growth and profitability.

Analytical & Data-Driven:

  • Ability to analyze data, track performance metrics, and use insights to improve sales and optimize retail operations.
  • Proficiency in using data to make informed decisions and adjust strategies based on performance.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with retail partners , internal teams , and key stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation skills to effectively communicate strategies, results, and insights to senior leadership and retail partners.

Industry Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of the luxury skincare market , consumer trends , and the competitive landscape in the U.S.
  • Knowledge of the best practices in retail merchandising , in-store events , and customer experience management in luxury brands.
