Job Summary
As part of the school's administrative team, this position provides leadership to support students at-risk due to academic, attendance, behavioral or emotional concerns.
Duties and Responsibilities
Identify students in needs of services, determine level of intervention, and maintain a caseload with updates on progress. Provide resources to support student preparedness to learn.
Monitor attendance, grades/credits/SOL and discipline for students on caseload. Attend monthly attendance meetings. Data collection and dissemination for caseload.
Provides ongoing assessment and monitoring to determine additional supports and resources. Meet with students to address academics, attendance, behavior, personal issues and build capacity in providing appropriate supports for at-risk students.
Works with Student Success/Assistance Plans, including development, monitoring, implementation, communication of components to teachers and parent involvement in development.
Lead small groups - motivation, organization, character development, lunch groups held on a daily or weekly basis.
Facilitates positive and appropriate connections with adults within the school setting and the community.
Liaison between the parents and school, often for the most disengaged families. May conduct home visits. Overcome barriers to access of resources for students and families (transportation, supplies).
Provides support to the administrative team, which may include child study meeting, discipline hearings and re-entry hearings.
Conducts classroom observations and data collection on student behavior in class and provides teacher feedback regarding strategies for caseload students.
Participates on identified school-based teams to provide support when requested.
Conducts conflict mediation and dispute resolution.
Accessibility to students and families accomplished through establishing trusting relationships.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)
Master's degree
Virginia certification in Administration and Supervision (K-12) preferred
Minimum of five years teaching experience in a public school setting is preferred
Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with students, parents and staff
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices for student engagement and achievement
Ability to work in challenging situations
Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students and staff including effective written communication
Ability to effective utilize data to identify areas of growth and implement appropriate strategies to demonstrate improvement in student achievement
Supervision Exercised
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Supervision Received
Performs duties under the supervision of the school principal.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Highly diverse and complex duties. Must have high tolerance for change and the ability to work on several projects and assignments concurrently. Strong interpersonal skills required in working with diverse groups. Must have initiative and assume responsibility for working productively.
Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time in a busy office environment; exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer terminal; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds.
