Description

The Senior Programmer will play a critical role in developing, modifying, and maintaining web-based and client-server applications that support data analytics and project management functions. This individual will work with SQL databases, develop reports, and create dashboards using Tableau and other data visualization tools to support enterprise-wide initiatives.

 

Responsibilities

This role will have the following responsibilities:

• Develop and modify web-based applications, client-server systems, and process automation scripts.
• Maintain and enhance the SQL server database and Tableau dashboards, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
• Design and develop SQL queries and reports, integrating data from multiple sources.
• Utilize Tableau and other visualization tools to create dashboards and reports for senior leadership.
• Plan, document, code, test, and implement computer programs that meet project requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to gather requirements and define system specifications.
• Conduct system analysis, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
• Ensure adherence to data security standards and access control policies.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
• Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development, with expertise in SQL databases, web development, and data visualization.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in SQL Server and relational database management.
  • Strong experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and tools (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
  • Experience in developing automated workflows and scripts.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps) is a plus.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in SQL, Tableau, or project management are desirable.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience supporting federal government projects, particularly within the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Understanding of project management principles and experience working in cross-functional teams.
• Background in systems integration and data analytics in large-scale environments.
