Capital Preparatory Schools is a charter school management organization operating a network of educational communities. Our mission is to build a path where there was none. The Capital Preparatory Schools has four school locations: one in Harlem, one in the Bronx, New York, and two locations in Bridgeport, Connecticut providing students in grades K–12 with a year-round, college-preparatory education that encourages students to become scholars and agents of change.

With the support of the Capital Preparatory team of skilled and compassionate educators, students realize their academic abilities, advocate for social justice and fulfill their civic responsibilities. As leaders of social justice, we expect our students to use their education to improve the lives of others. The position reports to the Director of Operations and both Upper and Lower schools Principals.

Office Clerk responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Main Office/Administrative
Greet all visitors and control access to the school.
Serve as gatekeeper to address questions and minimize interruptions of the school administration and instructional teams.
Set the tone for the school's warm and professional culture.
Answer phone calls, direct calls, take messages, place outgoing calls, make public address announcements, and send robocalls.
Ensure the school's main office environment is at all times clean, neat, organized, and orderly.
Ensure scholars leave only with authorized parents or guardians.
Ensure memos, notices, and other school-specific documents are delivered, collected from classrooms, and processed daily.
Occasionally assist the school nurse with the handling of sick scholars.
Record and track uniform violations.
Student Records and Database
Collect and maintain forms and other records, secure missing forms, and ensure the confidentiality of all scholar records.
Using the SIS and other systems (PowerSchool, SchoolMint, state systems) to maintain and update all scholar contact/demographic information.
Student Attendance
Support to reconcile scholar attendance daily in the school's student information system (SIS).
Support the production of accurate and timely student attendance reports.
Process late scholar arrivals and follow up with families of absent scholars.
Other
Assist with other operations projects, as needed.
Ensure the safety of students under one’s supervision.
Assist with non-instructional supervision of students, as needed, such as hallway monitoring, lunch duty, or supervision of extracurricular activities.
Assist in moving students to proper locations during fire drills, and sports or arts programs.
Promptly submit required paperwork.
The position will be split between the Lower and Upper schools.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree preferred
2 years working experience in a customer service or admissions field
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize work
Strong attention to detail
Compensation:
The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Capital Preparatory Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package. This is an in person, full-year, full-time, vacation-eligible, non-exempt position.
