Job Description:
The School of Architecture and Design (SoAD) at Wentworth Institute of Technology invites applications for a full-time position in Industrial Design at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin in Fall 2025.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach courses that align with a forward-thinking approach to design education, integrating advanced technology, user-centered approaches, and innovative tools into the design process. Teaching responsibilities may include coursework in UX/UI design, AR/VR applications, parametric and computational design, digital fabrication and rapid prototyping, interaction design, digital visualization and animation, AI-driven design methodologies, as well as design research, and advanced design studios. Candidates must be adept at demonstrating technical expertise and emerging design tools in a studio-based, hands-on learning environment.

The new faculty member will also play an essential role in launching the undergraduate program in digital design, graduate program in design, and graduate certificate programs, thereby contributing to the future of design education at Wentworth.

Wentworth’s School of Architecture and Design (SoAD) recognizes the critical role its courses and curriculum play in fostering academic success and addressing equity gaps. SoAD offers highly respected Bachelor of Sciences degrees in Industrial Design (NASAD?accredited), Interior Design (CIDA?accredited), Architecture, Master of Architecture?(NAAB?accredited), and Building Sciences. About the Industrial Design Program:
The Industrial Design program at Wentworth is a NASAD-accredited program located in Boston’s vibrant design hub. With approximately 130 students, the program emphasizes the connection between traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technologies, preparing students to excel in the rapidly evolving field of design.
The curriculum blends foundational skills like drawing, model-making, and material manipulation (e.g., paper, wood, metal, and plastic) with emerging technologies such as 3D printing, AR/VR, AI, and digital prototyping.
Students complete two mandatory co-ops , bridging the gap between academia and industry, reinforcing coursework, and gaining valuable professional experience.
